January 2010 Index Report:

(Feb. data released on Feb. 19, 2010)

Chicago, IL – The January Private Company Index (PCI) report shows a strong gain (9.9%) this past period, which brings the index to rest at an all time high point to close out the 2009 calendar year. The Index was up 37% for 12 month period ending Dec. 2009.

While the public market indicators also ended the year showing growth, it's important to take a historical viewpoint to gain perspective on the comparative performance.

For a snapshot comparing similar size company groups, look at the "PCI Annual Comparison" graph at right. Notice that the S&P group, represented by the dotted lines, showed a VERY dramatic 2009 increase compared to its mediocre annual growth of the past three years--an increase that was predicated on the extreme overall public market rally seen this year. Meanwhile, 2009 PCI growth patterns are very much in line with the performance of its past years making it a strong and consistent group regardless of public market behaviors.

The Entrex Micro Cap Revenue index

PCI analyst's quarterly examination of public company stock performance compared to revenue data from that sector of companies. See graph at right. An overview of the Entrex Micro-cap Revenue Index is available at this link.

2008 Data shows that, while these companies' revenue growth isn't on par with the PCI, the revenue line does present a more positive and consistently upward picture than the stock value during that same period. Note: This data is scheduled for update at the end of each quarterly reporting period.
