June 2008 Index Report:
The Entrex Private Company Index (PCI) saw a 1.9% slide during the month of June. This drop, following only a slight increase in May-over-April revenue data, coincides with the US economic outlook reported most recently by the "US Leading Economic Indicators" which indicates a drop in economy for the second month in a row.
A look at historical PCI seasonal analysis (graph at right) shows that this June-over-May downturn was also experienced the past two years but, in both cases, followed by an August spike that carried the PCI to a high-point by Q4.
Analysts point out that 2008 PCI trends are following the form of 2007 and 2006 in a somewhat deflated manner. Also, that the S&P Small Cap 600 experienced a far sharper decline during June 2008--a pattern which is atypical for that portfolio.
